AurumCoin suffered a 51% attack in November 2018 where an attacker gained majority network hashpower. The attacker performed a double-spend attack, sending 15,752.26 AU to the Cryptopia exchange worth approximately $500,000, selling them for other cryptocurrencies, then rolling back the transaction. The attack rendered the blockchain inactive as of November 29, 2018.

According to a report by Finder on November 12, AurumCoin (AU), a new digital currency based on the monetary gold standard system (the US dollar operation method), has recently suffered a 51% attack and lost 15,752.26 Australian dollars (approximately 11,362 US dollars).
